Alex Stevenson Diaz

Alex Stevenson Dz * Paintings *

Sito di Riferimento:

Alex Stevenson is an artist with a fondness for the human, communicating through expressive poses the inner struggle of man with himself , his desire for freedom , its prisons and bonds. Representing anatomies express hardness in miguelangelesco baroque. The tension of your hands and fingers or stiffness of the muscles of the neck, heads turned backwards, give way to an energy that leaves the inside more visceral .

As if dreams were addressed , playing with symbols; ícaros who want to take up a space without limits or restraints, women who retain their femininity touches , but paradoxically also prey to this , tasty fruit enclosing within itself a promise and only one deceiving the test. Frustration is always present, is the sign of the human condition , go ahead by the inner life force , but that runs the risk of seeing your hopes dashed .

Always alone , sometimes suffering , men and women think of each other as if to complete a forced separation , and suffer for not being in the same space , in the comfort of a well , in the same space-time dimensions .

The rapid evolution of the artist, as if the figures themselves representing it were , has strengthened its pictorial muscles. The difficulty of representing the human body along with being an artist in his own time, link the works to modern and eclectic aesthetic that departs from the conventions of traditional easel painting , combining an amalgam of styles and references: graphics clean line , handled brushes and graffiti , architectural details and fabrics, or partitioning the bottom like a work of geometric abstraction is involved.

The bright colors remind me of the murals treatments primitive cultures ; Bonanpak frescoes in Mexico, those of Ajanta in India. Spot colors and lines around the figures reinforce the subjection to the wall, and the strong presence of pictorial pasta, along with the work spatula again to take up space and texture. Extract highlights marked wall volume as genuine chiaroscuro reliefs , specifying every muscle and vein full of vitality.

In his paintings larger offers all development and organization of space according to the directionality of the elements, crystallizing and holding all elements of the set , while directing sight to important elements in the narrative of the work.
