Slava Fokk is a Russian painter who combines elements of postmodernism and Russian symbolism. He is particularly interested in late medieval masters and Northern Renaissance. Slava's remarkable technique with meticulous fidelity in drawing, modeling and color, masterful compositional sense and innovative approach to surface textures and media, give him a unique ability to flirt with greatest masters creating visually astounding interpretations of timeless masterpieces refracted through inspiration of modern vision.
Slava Fokk was born in 1976 in southern Russia in a family of artists. Since early childhood Slava was surrounded by a creative atmosphere of art studios and workshops. In 1997 he graduated from Repin Krasnodar Art School as the top student of his class, and his work was subsequently selected to represent the top ten most talented graduates at the school's 85th anniversary. Slava worked and exhibited in his home city of Krasnodar until 2001, when he was noticed and signed by Moscow Gallery Zero, the oldest and one of the most prominent galleries in Russia. In 2007 Slava received the First Award in the “Art and Time” category at the very prestigious First Moscow “Tradition and the Present” Art Festival .
After numerous successful expositions for several years by Gallery Zero, Slava was invited to exhibit in the U.S. He currently lives and works in California, and exibits in several prominent galleries across the U.S.
